Environment Friendly Agricultural Products and Their Export

International Conference on:

Environment Friendly Agricultural Products and Their Export from Egypt and Africa.
with the collaboration of scientists from the La Sapienza University of Rome

The objective of the International Conference on Environment Friendly Agricultural Products and Their Export from Egypt and Africa (EFAP 2005), is to promote the development of environment friendly agricultural products and to enhance their export from Egypt and Africa to Europe, and to enhance the visibility of Biosphere Reserves as havens for the promotion and export value of such products.

The main topics of the Conference are:
I - Scientific and Agricultural Aspects:
• The role of Biosphere Reserves and other protected areas on both sides of the Mediterranean in enhancing the production and value of environment friendly agricultural products.
• Best agro-methods for the production of environment friendly agricultural products with acceptable environmental criteria according to international standards, and needs of such production.
• The impact of these methods on public health.
• Best habitats for such production (e.g., desert agriculture).
• Best methods for the protection of such products from pollution, cheating, and falsification (Green Label, ISO 14000, etc.).
• Measures of inspection to ensure application of international standards.
• Storage, packaging, and safe transport of such products.

II - Economic and Social Aspects
• History of export of agricultural products from Egypt and Africa to Europe (the Classical [Graeco-Roman] and the Middle Ages). • Economics of exporting such products from Egypt and Africa to Europe.
• Perspectives of cooperation between Egypt and African countries in this respect.
• The economic and social impact of export of such products on local rural communities (population, demography, migration, etc.).
• Institutional aspects for dealing with the production and export of such products.
• The role of universities, education, the media, government administrations, and the civil society, in promoting the development of environment friendly agricultural products.
• Role of EU in alleviating poverty in Africa through fair trade in environment friendly agricultural products.

This International Conference should be interesting to universities, ministries, regional and international organizations, NGOs, producers, exporters, and experts in the field of production of and trade in environment friendly agricultural products, from Egypt, Africa, and Europe.


Registration Fees:
Individuals: Before 31 December 2004, 300 Euro or 350 US$, after 1 January 2005, 350 Euro or 420 US$, for individual participants. These fees include documents, lunch, coffee breaks for 4 days, and a half-day excursion to a suitable site.

Institutions: Before 31 December 2004, 1000 Euro or 1200 US$, after 1 January 2005, 1200 Euro or 1500 US$, for 5 individual participants either designated by the Institution, or affiliated to the same institution.

These fees include documents, lunch, coffee breaks for 4 days, and a half-day excursion to a suitable site for the five individuals. Accompanying persons: 50 Euros or 80 US$ for a half-day excursion.
