PROGRAMME
The five-day programme for the Conference will comprise:

*  Plenary lectures focusing on the state-of-the-art and targets of PV
*  Oral and poster presentations of specific research, development and demonstration projects,
 PV applications, PV Industry issues, PV markets
*  Exhibition of PV products and services
*  Workshops on specific PV issues (e.g. PV platform mid term hearing, EU electricity directive, etc.)
*  A PV Industry day parallel to the programme
*  Scientific and Industry tours and a social programme

CONFERENCE SUBJECTS
Papers are invited on the following topics:

SUBJECT 1
1.1 New Types of Cells and Modules
Next-generation cells, new materials (nano-technologies, organic materials..), new substrates, new types of interconnections, LED-related issues
1.2 Cells and Systems for Applications in Space, Concentration Devices
Very-high efficiency cells and modules (the family of III-V compounds stacks), heat evacuation issues
1.3 Fundamental Studies, New Experiments and Equipments
Theoretical studies and visions, experimental issues, measurement issues, standards, new equipments, PV and hydrogen

SUBJECT 2
Crystalline Silicon Solar Cells and Material Technology
including mono- and multicrystalline silicon cells and materials, thin-film crystalline silicon cells, processing technology of feed-stock, wafers, sheets, ribbons and cells

SUBJECT 3
Amorphous and Microcrystalline Silicon
film preparation, material characterisation and theoretical studies of amorphous and microcrystalline silicon cells, manufacturing and industrialization

SUBJECT 4
CIS, CdTe and Other (II-VI) Ternary Thin Film Cells
film preparation, material characterization, theoretical studies, manufacturing and industrialization

PV Modules and Components
including encapsulation, production technology, standards and testing of cells, modules, arrays and systems; concentrator systems, power conditioning, grid interfacing, storage systems; development of standard products, professional stand-alone systems and their applications

SUBJECT 6
6.1 PV Systems in grid-connected applications
Technical and utility issues, aesthetical issues and landscape integration for ground-installed systems, success stories of projects and programmes
6.2 PV Applications in the Built Environment
Cells and modules designed for applications in buildings (geometries, colours, materials, transparencies, dynamic behaviour, innovations in PV-lighting), visibility and aesthetics, cost aspects and potential markets

SUBJECT 7
7.1 Global Aspects of PV Deployment
National and regional support strategies and policies, National and State programmes and their effects, economic issues and cost developments, job creation, international trade, economy of scale: past and future, long-term projections of national and world markets, R&D strategies and programmes
7.2 PV in the Developing World
PV in the service of the Millennium goals for poverty alleviation, stand-alone systems, hybrid systems, PV in local grids, PV for communication, education, water, productive uses, social and gender issues PV Power for the World, PV for the rural, urban and peri-urban sectors in the developing nations, finance and programmes including aid programmes, success stories,state-of-affairs, co-operations and transfer of technologies, goals and strategies for the future

SUBJECT 8
8.1 Specific issues of PV-Industry and Commerce
PV promotion, markets, awareness, education and training, employment, role of labour organisations, system manufacturing, licensing, solar entrepreneurship, administrative bias, PV economics and externalities
8.2 PV Industry Innovation, Standardisation and Cooperation
PV Industry strategies, targets, investments, and realisations. Associations, co-operations, technology transfer, standardisation of systems, product life cycle, recycling, cross fertilization.
