The first edition of EWW Expo 2003 will be launched in Poland. Poland has made an excellent transition to an open market economy and is more than capable of competing with EU economies. However there is still a lot of work to be done to complete the transformation and given its substantial future potential, Poland is the logical choice for future investment.

One of the biggest challenges for the EU accession is the restructuring of the heavy industry and the local municipalities/government structures and the costly task of cleaning up the environment, which because of the heavy industrialisation suffered severe damage in the pre-transition era. Environment legislation has been prepared to meet the requirements of the acquis communautaire, but has yet to be adopted.
