9th CO2GeoNet Open Forum registration

Conférence réservée aux professionnels / Lieu : Venise - Italie
In Europe, CO2 storage is moving forward and 2014 – 2015 is an important time when many critical decisions about the future of CCS in Europe will be made.
The scientific community has much to discuss: during the CO2GeoNet Open Forum recent research advances will be presented to a wide audience in an esily understandable way for non-specialists, in order to provide a sound basis for discussing key issues and documents regarding the implementation of CO2 geological storage in Europe.

The CO2GeoNet Open Forum is a unique opportunity for stakeholders and major players in the CCS arena and wider energy – climate debate to meet and interact directly with Europe's largest group of researchers on CO2 geological storage.

2014 CO2GeoNet Open Forum Programme - 20 and 21 May 2014

The programme will comprise 6 themed sessions, detailed below. The Chair for each session will guide and summarize the discussion between presenters and forum participants.
Breakout groups where active debate will be encouraged amongst participants will be combined with Session 3 (Providing the scientific and technical basis for safe and environmentally sound storage) and Session 6 (Public Participation).

May 20: 9.00 – 17.00
Session 1: EU policy on climate and energy
Session 2: Implementation of storage technology
Session 3: Providing the scientific and technical basis for safe and environmentally sound storage

May 21: 9.00 – 16.30
Session 3: Providing the scientific and technical basis for safe and environmentally sound storage
Session 4: Use of CO2
Session 5: Regulation and implementation
Session 6: Public participation
Final Panel with members from the CO2GeoNet Advisory and Executive Committees

CO2GeoNet Workshop on the future of CO2 storage research - 22 May 2014, 9.00 – 16.10

Research themes could include:
Specification of storage capacity
Effect of heterogeneities on storage sites
Fine tuning regulatory requirements for the post-closure period:
- Model monitoring conformance
- Long-term stability
Identifying leakage and quantifying emissions
Impact of faults on storage sites
Visualizing subsurface CO2 storage activities
Training and public outreach
Etc.
