Climate Change and Resource Depletion : A Plan B to Save the World

Salon grand public / Lieu : Paris (75) - France
Earth Strategy and the Environmental Policy Group of Democrats Abroad present Ugo Bardi, who will approach the troubles of the planet from a different angle from our first speaker.

He writes: "A couple of months from the COP21 in Paris, there is a lot of hope for change. But, with all the Republican candidates having declared that they don't believe in human-caused climate change, the result will be, most likely, the usual: too little and too late. So, we really need a Plan B to save the world.
We need to turn our approach to emissions reduction upside down. Enough with politicians discussing in a big meeting, instead we should emphasize concrete actions by the citizens."

Ugo Bardi is a member of the Club of Rome, and a faculty member of the Department of Earth Sciences of the University of Florence, Italy. He works mainly in system dynamics studies related to energy and sustainability, with particular interest in mineral resources, especially oil and other fossil resources and their effect on climate change. He works also on electrical transportation, especially from a systemic viewpoint, as well as on waste management and recycling.

He is the author of more than 160 papers in international journals, as well as the recent books, The Limits to Growth Revisited, (2011), and , Extracted, (2014). He is active in the dissemination of scientific results in climate science and is a member of the scientific committee of the "Climalteranti" group which collects most of the Italian researchers in climate science.
