ACTeon is looking for a dynamic and motivated Natural Resources/Environmental economist to join its Economics Team. This position requires an excellent team spirit, initiative and autonomous work, and ability to manage and guide junior experts.
MAIN TASKS
The main tasks and activities relevant to the position include:
- Performing socio-economic assessments for supporting the development, implementation and evaluation of EU environmental policy at different decision making scales (from the local to the EU levels), using sound assessment frameworks (policy impact assessment, public policy evaluation...) and innovative assessment techniques and tools (econometrics, economic modelling.....);
- Involvement in consultancy and research on (innovative) socio-economic issues linked to the economic dimensions of EU environmental policies – with particular emphasis on social and economic impacts, economic values of ecosystem goods & services, economic instruments, governance and institutional economics, the value of knowledge & innovation for better policy making....;
- Reporting key study’s results as technical reports, communication material or policy briefs targeting stakeholders and decision makers at different decision making scales;
- Contribution to the organisation and facilitation of policy workshops, conferences and trainings;
- Contribution to the development of new projects & research proposals.
Minimum M.Sc. or engineering degree in environmental economics, economics with specialisation in environmental issues or EU environmental policy with specialisation in (micro/macro) economics;
-Minimum 5 years experience as economist, environmental economist or EU environmental policy specialist. Experience in consultancy and in project management , in particular at the EU level, is seen as an advantage;
- Experience in the extraction/use of data from diverse socio-economic data sets (e.g. INSEE, Eurostat), in primary data collection techniques (including via surveys) and in development and application of analytical tools/methods (econometrics, economic modelling...);
- Very good understanding of EU environmental policy making in general, and of 1-2 specific environmental domains in particular (e.g. marine resources, biodiversity, climate change adaptation, water, etc.). A complementary robust experience in one sector policy (health, information & communication, transport, agriculture, industry, energy, urban planning....) is seen as an advantage;
