Renewable Energy Finance & Infrastructure Summit

Conférence réservée aux professionnels / Lieu : Vienne (au) - Autriche
Renewable energy has become the hottest issue in Europe and is set to remain so for the next few decades. Its importance is not only environmental but also economic, as well as a matter of energy security.

The EU is placing a strong emphasis on the development of renewable energy sources. Member states have an obligation to reach certain targets by 2020. Technological advances also make RE projects more and more feasible. Concurrently, popular pressure is also mounting, as people all over Europe begin to realize and internalize the factors that make the changes inevitable.

At the same time we are in a global economic crisis. The drastic reduction in the overall availability of “easy loans” makes project financing more difficult as well. Banks lend less, for a shorter time, with a much greater scrutiny and a stricter approach. Bankability criteria have tightened. This makes such projects more challenging to undertake.

Yet the governments are still under the pressure to reach those targets and are reacting accordingly. This adds an element of stability to this particular market, increasing the attractiveness of such projects.

This conference will examine issues of financing, government strategies, grid capacity optimization, as well as mitigating the risks inherent in developing such large infrastructure projects.
